SEMESTER 1

AN111:  Medical Terminology
This course is an introduction to the principles of medical word building to develop the necessary medical vocabulary used in health care settings. Using a systems-approach, students study, analyze and interpret root words, prefixes and suffixes with emphasis on spelling, pronunciation, definition and use of medical terms. As part of the learning process, students are exposed to basic anatomy, physiology, pathology of disease, and clinical procedures .

   AN110: Basics of Nursing

   This course provides opportunities to develop competencies necessary to meet the needs of individuals throughout their lifespan in a safe, legal, and ethical manner using the nursing process.  Students learn concepts and theories basic to the art and science of nursing. The role of the nurse as a member of the healthcare team is emphasized. Students are introduced to the concepts of client needs, safety, communication, teaching/learning,   critical thinking, ethical-legal, cultural diversity, nursing history, and the program\\\'s philosophy of nursing. The objectives of this course are to educate students to develop specifically qualified nurses wishing to enter the field of Aesthetic nursing. This qualification will provide nurses with the knowledge and hands-on practical skills required to assist dermatologists and plastic surgeons in performing a range of dermal therapies, cosmetic procedures, and aesthetic nursing duties.

AN112: Human Biology

   This course describes the human body at the level of molecules, cells, and systems, and applies this understanding to human function. Integrate knowledge of fundamental human physiology to explain homeostasis    with respect to human health and well-being. Integrate knowledge to predict the outcome of lifestyle choices,  environmental factors, and medical interventions on human health across the lifespan.

SEMESTER  2

AN120: Human Physiology & Anatomy

  an advanced course designed for individuals seeking to pursue careers in medical aesthetics or related fields.  This course provides a comprehensive overview of the structure and function of the human body, with a focus on  the skin, musculoskeletal system, and integumentary system. The course begins with an introduction to the basic principles of anatomy and physiology, including the organization of the human body, cellular structure, and  function, and the various systems that make up the body. Students will then delve into the anatomy and   physiology of the skin, including its layers, functions, and major structures such as sweat glands, hair follicles, and   sebaceous glands. Next, the course covers the anatomy and physiology of the musculoskeletal system, including the bones, joints,   and muscles. Students will learn about the function and movement of the skeleton and how it supports the body,  as well as the types of joints and their roles in movement. Finally, the course explores the anatomy and physiology of the integumentary system, including the skin, hair,  nails, and cutaneous appendages. Students will learn about the role of the skin in protecting the body and  regulating body temperature, as well as the various skin disorders and diseases that can affect it.

  AN121: Medical Microbiology

  This course studies the history and scope of cosmetic microbiology, natural cosmetic agents, and their  antimicrobial properties, such asgarlic, neem, turmeric, thulasi, and aloe vera, plant enzymes in cosmetics preparation. Additionally, it studies sanitization basics of detergents, surfactants, chemical, and physical sanitizers   for sanitizing equipment, as well as sanitization procedures likecleansing in manufacturing, filling and waste disposal areas, personal hygiene, raw material handling, sanitary design of air, and water systems and monitoring.   Furthermore, the course provides an introduction to microorganisms that cause skin or hair diseases as well as        contamination of cosmetic products. 

 AN122: Basics of Surgery

  Surgery is the branch of medicine that is concerned with the treatment of disease, injury, and deformity by  operation or manipulation. In surgery, both acquiring knowledge and learning skills are needed for proper patient  management. Basic knowledge of the principles of surgical operation, types of incisions, surgical instruments, principles of     drainage, and applicable medical technologies and techniques; most frequent complications of surgical operations   and procedures and their prophylaxis, and treatment. Overview of the classification of postoperative period and patient monitoring, principles of surgical patient nutrition, complications of early and late postoperative period.

  General information about the history of the development of surgery.

 AN123 Dermo-cosmetics pharmacology

  Provide students with a thorough knowledge of the technical and scientific aspects and regulations inherent to   Cosmetics and personalized Dermatological Medicines, The course also encompasses the study of the principles  of cosmetics formulation, including the selection of ingredients, stability, compatibility, and product development. A   cosmetic formulation and product development course in the context of medical cosmetics would cover the  following topics: An overview of the history, definition, and market trends of medical cosmetics. At the end of this  course, the student should know: properly prepare Dermatologic Medicines and Cosmetics, taking in every  situation appropriate technical procedures to ensure obtaining medicines/products with quality, safety, efficacy  acceptability, and compliance with applicable regulatory requirements; properly advise Cosmetics, taking into  account the technical information about the products and the characteristics of the individual, including the skin        type (characterized by the determination of parameters through Cutaneous Biometrics techniques).

B. INSTITUTE COURSES

 AN114 Academic Debate:

  This course is designed to develop students’ skills in academic thinking, communication, argumentation, and  debate. The topics of this course train students to think critically, to be creative, and communicative, and a  qualified manager who respects others’ points of view and leads academic arguments as well. It is about Identifying problems and offering appropriate suggestions for solving such problems. 

  The course trains them also to apply different sources for academic communication, to generate knowledge. Furthermore, students are directed to raise questions and analyze the scientific texts logically and critically. Upon    completion of this course, students should have knowledge about, and be able to: Respectthe diversity of social      relations in communities. Developing Critical thinking and confident decision-making. Writing reports include their     specific study kind of reports, paraphrasing their required texts. Preparing and giving presentations, doing debates   as well, writing a professional CV, and knowing some ideas about how to do successful job interviews.

AN113 Computer Application:

In this module, the basics of computer hardware and software will be introduced to students to prepare them with the necessary computer knowledge and working abilities in their both personal and academic lives. Students will be instructed theoretically and practically on using computer hardware components, operating systems, browsing and searching techniques, designing presentations, working with text processors, and working on data spreadsheets.
Upon completing this course, students will be able to:
Work on Windows Operating System (Windows 10).

o   Using Learnata (e-learning System) and emails

o   Search using a Google search engine and several important websites

o   Prepare an MS PowerPoint presentation with well-designed and organized slides having notes, header, footer, date, and time, and apply appropriate animations and transitions.

o   Using MS Word document for processing texts, organizing data tables and shapes with a friendly format, generating an automatic table of contents, inserting citations and references bibliography.

 AN124 Kurdology

 This course focuses on exploring the history of the Kurds from the point of view of Western explorers and  historians. It dives into the role of this Western storytelling on the Kurds while also evaluating the geopolitical and    international significance of these people. The course also takes back students to the ancient history of Kurds         during the time of the Medes. While the history is an important part of the module, it also puts emphasis on integrating the use of the Latin alphabet in writing. As such, students are introduced to his kind of alphabet early  on in the course and are encouraged to use it on a daily basis.  Last but not least, students are required to do a number of presentations, posters, group discussions, and  classroom activities about the above-mentioned topics of the module.
